Tesla is eager to penetrate India
Mumbai:Tata Electronic got a shot in the arm with Tesla, one of the major EV makers in the world, inking a pact with it to source semiconductor chips for its global requirements.
The agreement signed a few months back adds the tag to the Tata Group Company as a reliable supplier to a major global player in the EV industry. This enables Tata Electronics to grab a space in the landscape of the semiconductor value chain in India, said a media report.
Details regarding the value of the sourcing deal between Tesla and Tata Electronics, along with other specifics, remain undisclosed.
The US-based electric vehicle (EV) giant is eager to penetrate India, the world’s fastest-growing major automotive market. Elon Musk, the driving force behind Tesla, is scheduled to visit India this month for discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During his visit, Musk is expected to unveil potential investment in India, including commitments to EV manufacturing facilities. Tesla currently holds the title of the world’s most valuable automotive company.
