BENGALURU: Troubled edtech firm Byju’s has seen its flagship learning app removed from the Google Play Store due to non-payment of dues to Amazon Web Services (AWS), according to people familiar with the matter.

While some apps under the Byju’s umbrella – operated by parent firm Think and Learn – remain functional on the Play Store, the core Learning App is no longer available for Android users.

“The Byju’s Learning App has been delisted from the Play Store because of pending payments to AWS, which powers the app. With the company now under the oversight of an Insolvency Resolution Professional, all payments are being handled through that process,” a source said.

Still in App Store

The Learning App from Byju’s catered to school students from Classes 4 to 12, offering lessons in mathematics, science, and social studies, along with content for competitive exams like JEE, NEET and IAS.

The app, however, remains accessible on Apple’s App Store. Other offerings like Byju’s Premium Learning App and Byju’s Exam Prep App are still available for download on the Google Play Store.

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal recently initiated insolvency proceedings against Byju’s, following an appeal from a group of investors led by lender representative Glas Trust.
