Sensex, Nifty moving up on intra-day

Sensex gains 500 points

Mumbai: Both the Sensex and Nifty 50 are posting gains despite mixed global cues in intra-day trading on March 19 (Wednesday).

The S&P BSE Sensex surged nearly 500 points to reach 72,950, while the Nifty 50 climbed to the 22,150 level.

Leading the gains among the Sensex constituents are Reliance Industries, followed by Maruti, Bajaj Finance, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, and Larsen & Toubro. Conversely, Wipro, Nestle, and HDFC Bank are marginally down.

In broader indices, notable gains were observed in early trading. The BSE Midcap index advanced 0.5 percent, while the Small Cap added 0.7 percent.

Among individual stocks, Sanofi India saw a 4 percent increase, while Cipla rose by 1 percent after the two firms announced an exclusive partnership to enhance access to Sanofi’s central nervous system (CNS) medications across India.”
