Markets gather more momentum

Sensex up 0.39%, or 294 points, at 74,965

Mumbai: Equity benchmark indices were ruling on Tuesday, tracking global peers.

The S&P BSE Sensex was up 0.39 per cent, or 294 points, at 74,965 levels while NSE Nifty 50 was up 0.4 per cent at 22,736 levels.

Among individual stocks, M&M was the top gainer on both BSE and NSE, after the company launched XUV 3XO, a compact SUV, at Rs7.49 lakh. The stock was up 4 pe cent.

That apart, Tata Motors, Asian Paints, Maruti Suzuki, Power Grid, Reliance Industries, and IndusInd Bank were other leaders.

In the broader markets, Nifty SmallCap and MidCap gained up to 0.6 per cent.

Sectorally, Nifty Auto led with 2 per cent gains, followed by Nifty Realty ,up 1.5 per cent.
