NEW DELHI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will conduct a detailed investigation into the Air India Express aircraft that experienced a hydraulic failure during a flight from Trichy to Sharjah on Friday.

The probe aims to determine the cause of the malfunction.

The aircraft, carrying 141 passengers, encountered the issue shortly after takeoff and circled Trichy for nearly two-and-a-half hours before safely landing at the airport.

In a statement, Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu commended the swift response of the airport and emergency teams after a full emergency was declared at 6:05 PM. The flight landed safely at 8:15 PM.

“The DGCA has been instructed to thoroughly examine the aircraft to identify the cause of the hydraulic failure,” Naidu said. “Meanwhile, Air India Express has been directed to assist passengers with alternative arrangements for their onward journeys.”
