NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a revised Productivity Linked Reward (PLR) Scheme for major ports and Dock Labour Board employees for the period 2020-21 to 2025-26.
This modification will benefit approximately 20,704 employees, with a total financial implication of around Rs200 crore.
Key changes to the scheme include an increased emphasis on port-specific performance in the PLR calculation, raising its weightage from 50 per cent to 55 per cent, and ultimately to 60 per cent.
Performance weightage to decline
In contrast, the All India performance weightage will decrease to 40 per cent by 2025-26. This adjustment aims to enhance efficiency and foster competition among major ports.
The PLR Scheme rewards employees based on annual performance assessments agreed upon by management and labor federations, promoting better industrial relations and productivity within the port sector.
