MUMBAI: Bharti Airtel reported a substantial increase in net profit for the April-May quarter (Q1) of FY25, with a year-on-year (Y-o-Y) rise of 158 per cent, reaching Rs4,159 crore compared to Rs1,612 crore in the same period last year. Sequentially, the profit more than doubled from Rs2,071 crore in the previous quarter.

The company continued to see strong growth in 4G and 5G customer additions. Consolidated revenue from operations for Q1 stood at Rs38,506.4 crore, marking a 2.84 per cent Y-o-Y increase. Other income for the quarter was Rs363.5 crore.

ARPU rose by 5.5 % Y-o-Y to Rs211

Bharti Airtel noted that the revenues of its group subsidiaries were still affected by the devaluation of African currencies, particularly the Nigerian Naira.

A key performance metric, the average revenue per user (ARPU), rose by 5.5 per cent Y-o-Y to Rs211, up from Rs200 in Q1FY24.

However, it increased only marginally from Rs209 in the preceding quarter. Airtel’s ARPU remains the highest among India’s top telecom operators, surpassing Jio’s and Vodafone
