MUMBAI: Air India Express has expanded its operations by introducing six new daily direct flights, including three from Chennai and two from Kolkata, as of Monday.

The low-cost carrier also inaugurated its first direct service on the Guwahati–Jaipur route. Launched on August 12, the new routes cover Chennai-Bhubaneswar, Chennai-Bagdogra, Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata-Varanasi, Kolkata-Guwahati, and Guwahati-Jaipur, according to a statement from the airline.

In response to growing demand on the Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram route, which was previously served by two weekly flights, Air India Express has added a daily service, bringing the total to nine flights per week.

Air India Express, a subsidiary of Air India and part of the Tata group, currently operates over 380 daily flights, connecting 32 domestic and 15 international airports. The airline’s fleet consists of 82 aircraft, including 54 Boeing 737s and 28 Airbus A320s.
