DUBAI: The Dubai-headquartered logistics giant DP World has unveiled SARAL-3, a rail-led multi-modal service aimed at enhancing connectivity between Gandhidham in Gujarat and the National Capital Region (NCR).

The service, named SARAL (an abbreviation for Sustainable, Assured, Reliable, and Agile Logistics), is designed to provide door-to-door sustainable cargo solutions for businesses in South Gujarat.

SARAL will connect cities such as Surat, Vapi, Valsad, Vadodara, Bharuch, and Ankleswar with key markets in NCR, Western Uttar Pradesh, Eastern Rajasthan, Haryana, and South Punjab.

Door-to-door delivery

According to DP World, the service, which originates from Hazira port town in Surat, will guarantee door-to-door delivery within 72 hours. This marks the first-of-its-kind dedicated rail freight service from Hazira to NCR, aiming to revolutionize cargo movement in the region.

“Businesses in Southern Gujarat traditionally rely on roadways for transporting goods. However, SARAL offers a sustainable and economical alternative for reaching Northern Indian markets,” said Adhendru Jain, Vice President – Rail and Inland Terminals, DP World Subcontinent.

DP World operates five container terminals across India, located in Mumbai (two terminals), Cochin, Chennai, and Mundra, with a combined handling capacity of approximately 6 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units).

The introduction of SARAL is part of DP World’s commitment to developing integrated logistics solutions and fostering seamless trade connectivity between India’s industrial hubs and key consumption markets.
