MUMBAI: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been selected as the Strategic Partner for digital re-imagination and transformation program by Saipem, leader in services for the energy industry and infrastructure.
An official statement from TCS said the IT major will be supporting Saipem’s digital transformation as the company faces a constantly evolving and increasingly competitive market. TCS will be managing cyber security for the Saipem, while also improving user experience through cloud and automation, leveraging machine learning and cognitive automation through ignio™, and managing Saipem’s ecosystem of IT suppliers through Digital Service Management.
Prasad Meharunkar, TCS country head for Italy, said, “Technology has always played a vital role in complex industries such as oil and gas, where the physical operating environment is often harsh and remote, and business is driven by sharp swings in commodity prices.”
He said that in Italy in particular, many companies in the industry have found themselves working with multiple uncoordinated vendors, facing a challenge to adjust in an agile manner, which drives up costs and complicates IT operations.
“We’re looking forward to partnering with Saipem to not only transform their technology operations, but also to help them adopt a more streamlined, secure and agile mindset, which – in this Business 4.0 era – is crucial to success.”
