KOCHI: Aster DM Healthcare has reaffirmed its commitment to Kerala with a strategic expansion plan, announcing an investment of Rs850 crore over the next three years to enhance healthcare infrastructure, medical services, and employment opportunities in the state.

The announcement comes in alignment with Kerala’s ‘Invest Kerala Global Summit’ initiative, where Dr Azad Moopen, founder and chairman, and Anoop Moopen, director at Aster DM Healthcare, met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Industries Minister P Rajeev to discuss the state’s healthcare landscape and explore avenues for growth and innovation.

Building on the Rs500 crore it has already invested in Kerala over the past three years, Aster’s latest expansion drive will increase its total bed capacity in the state to 3,453 by FY27 from the current 2,635. The company, which operates seven hospitals in Kerala, generates 53 per cent of its India revenue from the state (9M FY25).

The expansion will be spearheaded by two greenfield projects – Aster Capital Trivandrum, a 454-bed facility, and Aster MIMS Kasaragod, which will add 264 beds. Additionally, its flagship hospital, Aster Medcity, will expand to 962 beds by FY27, following the recent addition of 100 beds in Q3FY25.

Speaking at the Invest Kerala Global Summit 2025, Dr Azad Moopen said that Kerala has always been at the heart of Aster’s journey, and its commitment to the state is stronger than ever.

World-class healthcare

“We are dedicated to expanding our footprint, delivering world-class healthcare, and generating employment. The ‘Invest Kerala Global Summit’ highlights the state’s potential as a high-impact investment hub, and we are proud to be a part of this transformative journey,” Dr Moopen said.

Anoop Moopen emphasised Aster’s role in employment generation, stating, “Aster DM Healthcare provides direct employment to over 12,700 professionals in Kerala, including thousands of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff. Our expansion will create an additional 4,200 jobs, further strengthening the state’s healthcare workforce and economy.”

With a strong focus on innovation and accessibility, Aster’s investment in Kerala reinforces its vision of making high-quality healthcare more accessible while driving economic growth and job creation in the state.
