MUMBAI: IndiGo, India’s largest carrier, faced significant disruptions over the weekend due to a widespread Microsoft outage affecting airline operations globally. After cancelling 192 flights on Friday, the airline managed to resume operations on Saturday but had to cancel 93 flights scheduled for the day. As systems gradually recovered across airports by early Saturday morning, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu assured that operations were stabilizing and anticipated full resolution of the backlog by noon.
In contrast, Air India reported minimal impact from the outage, with no flight cancellations on Friday but acknowledging delays due to airport service disruptions. SpiceJet also maintained normal operations, emphasizing their commitment to passenger convenience despite the technical challenges. Similarly, Akasa Air navigated the outage successfully without cancelling any flights, highlighting their operational resilience during the global system downtime affecting reservations, check-ins, and boarding procedures.
