New York: Kia America has decided to recall all its 2020-2023 model and select 2024 model Telluride earlier this month, according to the National Highway Tariff Safety Administration (NHTSA). At the time, no injuries or crashes were reported.

NHTSA documents say that Kia is recalling more than 427,000 Telluride SUVs due to a defect that may cause the cars to roll away while they are parked.

The intermediate shaft and right front driveshaft of a certain 2020-2024 Telluride may not be fully engaged. Over time, this can lead to unintended vehicle movement while the card is in park – increasing potential crash risks, the documents add.

Kia India, the Indian arm of the South Korean car maker giant, doesn’t manufacture Telluride model SUVs.
