Stock markets open in green

Sensex up 400 points, Nifty 126 points

Mumbai: Equity benchmark indices opened in green on Monday with the BSE Sensex rising 400 points to 73,486 and the NSE Nifty50 advancing by 126 points to 22,278.

Axis Bank, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance, Ultratech Cement, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank, Wipro and L&T led the gains on the Sensex, while HDFC Bank, JSW Steel were among the losers. 

On other hand, BPCL and Coal India were among top gainers on NSE Nifty 50 while Mahindra and Mahinrda were among the top losers.

The broader markets opened strong with both the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices gaining 0.96 and 1.20 per cent respectively.

Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Realty, Nifty Healthcare and Nifty Consumer Durables lead sectoral gains on the NSE.
