DoT withdraws demand notice to PowerGrid on NLD & ISP licence fee

NEW DELHI: Power Grid Corporation of India has announced that the provisional demand notice to the company towards license fee including interest, penalty and interest on penalty in respect of national long distance (NLD) & ISP licenses pertaining to the period from FY 2006-07 to FY 2018-19 have been withdrawn by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) vide their letter dated  July 14, 2020.

The state -run transmission utility Power Grid had last month said the DoT had raised a demand of Rs13,613.66 crore as licence fee for years 2006-07 to 2009-10.

“Department of Telecommunication vide its revised Assessment order dated May 22, 2020 in respect of NLD (National Long Distance) licence for the FYs 2006-07 to 2009-10 has asked POWERGRID to pay Rs 13,613.66 crore on account of License Fee for the FYs 2006-07 to 2009-10, interest, penalty and interest on penalty,” a regulatory filing by the company had said.
