ABU DHABI: July 2025 will forever stand out in my memory as a month of remarkable progress for Etihad Airways. It was the busiest period for aircraft deliveries since it first took to the skies 22 years ago, making it a true milestone in the airline’s fleet expansion journey.

Over the course of this single month, Etihad welcomed five new aircraft into their family: the very first Airbus A321LR, a pair of Boeing 787 Dreamliners, one impressive Airbus A350-1000, and an Airbus A320ceo.

“With each delivery, I felt our vision for ambitious growth coming to life as these aircraft immediately enhanced our capabilities across our expanding global network,” Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, said.

“Our team is on a dedicated mission—to increase annual passenger numbers to 38 million by 2030—and this dynamic surge in aircraft additions is a testament to that commitment. Expanding our fleet on such a scale gives us the freedom to reach more destinations, add flight frequencies,

Neves said that July has been a remarkable month for Etihad Airways.

“There’s more to our expansion than just numbers. Each aircraft serves a carefully planned purpose. Our Dreamliners are set to boost our long-haul operations, whisking passengers away to far-away destinations across Asia, Australia, and North America. Meanwhile, the Airbus A350-1000 brings extra capacity to some of our highest demand routes, making journeys more comfortable and efficient”

Global aviation hub

Yet, the true highlight of July was introducing the first A321LR into its ranks. This isn’t just any plane—it’s a game-changer for narrowbody travel in our region. With a revolutionary layout, the A321LR brings Etihad’s luxury to new heights, featuring private First Suites, lie-flat Business seats, and even enhanced Economy section entertainment. For the first time, premium, widebody-style comfort is now available on shorter and medium-haul flights.

As a result of these additions, Etihad’s fleet now stands at 106 aircraft.

“We’re proud to operate one of the youngest fleets worldwide, with an average age of 8.7 years. This commitment keeps us at the forefront of both operational efficiency and passenger satisfaction,” Neves said.

With 27 new destinations and additional flights to popular cities, they are shaping Abu Dhabi into a leading global aviation hub. The numbers speak for themselves—over the last year, airline carried more than 20 million passengers, doubling the figures from just two years ago.

With plans to introduce around 20 more aircraft each year in both 2025 and 2026, the journey toward new horizons continues. Each step forward strengthens Abu Dhabi’s global standing and ensures millions of passengers enjoy truly exceptional travel experiences both today and in the years ahead.
