MUMBAI: At a time when petrol cost goes through the roof, Bajaj Auto’s bi-fuel motorcycle Freedom 125, launched on Friday, offers a big relief to two-wheeler riders. The bike costs only Re one per kilometer on CNG (compressed natural gas) and Rs2.25 on petrol.
Lauding Bajaj Auto’s effort to introduce a highly economical motorcycle for users, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed hopes that given the bike’s cost-saving feature, it will be an instant hit in overseas markets.
Freedom 125, the world’s first CNG bike, carries a price tag of Rs95,000 to 1.10 lakh. It features 2- kilogram CNG tank and a 2- litre petrol tank.
The CNG tank is positioned beneath the seat.
Powered by a 125cc single-cylinder engine, the Freedom 125 can generate 9.5 PS of power and 9.7 Nm of torque.
Bajaj claims it offers a mileage of 213 kilometers per kilogram of CNG. The bike boasts the longest seat in its segment, standing at 785mm.
