Kochi: CriSidEx, India’s first sentiment index for MSMEs, developed jointly by SIDBI and CRISIL, has been launched.

It is a composite index based on a diffusion index of eight parameters and measures MSE business sentiment on a scale of zero (extremely negative) to 200 (extremely positive). It will have two indices, one for the Survey Quarter and another for the Next Quarter once a trend emerges after a few rounds of the survey, providing independent time series data.

The feedback was captured through a survey of 1,100 enterprises, out of which 550 were manufacturing units and the other 550 were service units, conducted in November – December 2017.

CriSidEx is designed to capture the sentiment of MSMEs to indicate ground trends in this vital sector for the benefit of all stake holders and thus, also play an important role in addressing financial and developmental gaps in the MSE ecosystem.

The first reading of CriSidEx stood at 107, indicating mildly positive sentiment for Survey Quarter October-December.
